We can’t dive into 2022 without a quick recap of 2021. As the world and our community have lived with the pandemic, Food demand, quality, and availability have all been topics of conversation and life in general. the community of Homer has stood by its Farmers and supported its local resources and businesses with the same passion we live our lives by. As a small farm evolving to support the needs of our community we decided to offer 40 food shares for our CSA program and it didn’t take long before we had to begin a waiting list. We developed a fall “Root Share” for our members to offer root cellar worthy crops to feed us through our long winters. Our fall harvests of onions, shallots, potatoes, carrots, beets, , radish, and daikon were plentiful beyond belief.
We were blessed in 2021 with 3 primary interns who got the farm planted, cared for, harvested, and packed and delivered to our members and partners. Kellie Pierce will be returning for a second summer to help us out on the farm.
As Covid has died down a bit in the fall we were able to partner with the Grog Shop to do a wine tasting at the farm in celebration of the harvest and paired with Synergy seasonal treats. The gathering was such a healthy reminder of why we do this. The rewards of bringing wonderful people together to celebrate health and abundance is more than words can describe.
